Sleeping
Bear soaps are handmade with tallow, lard, canola oil, coconut oil
and other luxurious vegetable fats. We specifically use tallow, lard
and canola because they are produced in the fields surrounding us.
Believing in supporting this agricultural economy, we purchase all
our base ingredients locally when available. Unfortunately, coconuts
and palms don't grow on our prairie, so we purchase those oils from
other sources.
Color is
created by using natural ingredients such as cocoa, turmeric and
paprika. Sometimes the essential or fragrance oils added to the
soaps create their own color.
Once the soap
is molded and cut into bars, the soap is cured for four weeks. We
hand trim and bevel the edges of the soap once it is dry. Try as we
might, we usually don't create perfectly shaped bars of soap. After
a few baths or showers with one of our bars, you won't notice their
eccentricities, but you will notice their quality.
You owe it to
yourself and your skin to try handmade soap.
